Heading into 2024, we continue to strive toward being as sustainable as possible. While we know there is always room for improvement, here are some things we have done to lower our impact:
Packaging:
We don’t use plastic straws or bags in any of our locations
All our pizza boxes are recyclable
The plastic used to package our frozen pasta and salads is fully compostable
Our pasta containers are waxed with plant-based plastic making them 100% biodegradable
All our pasta sauces as well as our Al Volo dessert jars are sold in reusable glass containers
Food:
We work with suppliers who share our values and respect for the earth by producing organic and sustainable products
We have implemented systems to lower food waste across all locations and introduced recipes from Italian “cucina povera” which is based on using leftovers to create new dishes
Paper Waste
Our Terroni Magazine is printed on recycled paper using biogas energy and is a chlorine-free process
Our head office has committed to going paperless
Education
In the last year we have been working with an environmental consultant to help us lower our impact and improve sustainability
We provide training about waste disposal and environmentally sensitive practices in our locations
Amaro Lucano is a herbal liqueur infused with the essence of more than 30 herbs. A product of Basilicata, it has been a staple in the houses of expat Italians for the past 125 years.
My parents moved from Calabria because there was nothing there. My mom family moved here when she was 12. My father was the first of his family that moved here.
Dubbed the ‘diamond of the culinary world’ for their value both in terms of money and flavour, truffles have always been popular with both diners and chefs.
Every meal needs to end with a bit of sweetness. Affogato alla Crema features crema gelato which is then ‘drowned’ in hot espresso for a pick-me-up at the end of your meal.
Aperitivo comes from the Latin word aperire, literally “to open,” and in Italian you still describe the effect of something appetizing as something that “opens your stomach.”
Sustainability is an environmental concept that focuses on finding an ecological way to meet the needs of the global population without compromising the world for future generations.
